Christian, when did God first love you?
Did He begin to love you while you lived in constant sinful rebellion towards Him?
Did He begin to love you when you were lost and confused, when all around you was dark?
Did He begin to love you when you started to search for an answer, seeking something to make sense of life?
Did He begin to love you when you cried out for forgiveness and salvation?
Did He begin to love you when He brought you from darkness to light, from eternal death to enternal life?
My friend, the reality is so much more wonderful than we can even begin to comprehend:
He knew, loved, and chose you before you realised your need of salvation.
He knew, loved, and chose you before you had any idea who He was.
He knew, loved, and chose you before you were born.
He knew, loved, and chose you before the universe first blazed into light.
From all eternity your God, the Soverign ruler of all space, time and reality; freely chose to love you, save you, and set you apart as a gift to His only beloved and precious Son.
Since His eternal love for you is conditioned on nothing you have done, since it is a gift from your Heavenly Father, since you have been given as a gift from the Father to the Son, you can rest eternally secure in His love. Understanding and knowing that, as a special gift, you are far too precious to ever be misplaced, damaged, or forgotten.
This is the God we worship, this is the God we serve.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”
-Ephesians 1: 4-7
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified”
-Romans 8: 28-30
“But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.”
