Five short verses

15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
16For byhim all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
17And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
18And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
19For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,
20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross

Just reading these verses tonight, and thinking how even in a few verses we see so many different aspects of Christ.
I wont go into the specific meaning of them, just list them.
In your own time look at the countless aspects of Christ and consider his beauty, power and love for us sinners.
In these five verses, Christ is:

– The image of God, in whos presence we would otherwise not be able to stand.
-The eternal Son of God, and eternal part of the Trinity.
-The reason for creation.
-The one through whom creation came into existence.
-The Sovereign risen King over creation.
-The head, and only leader of his Church.
-The one who rose again from the dead, victorious.
-The one in whom dwells the fullness of God.
-The only one who can rescue, cleanse, sanctify and truly love us.

Five verses, in five verses we have at least nine aspects to whom Christ is, and what he has done for us. When we think that the whole Bible points to Christ then we should be in awe that even all these pages and words are not enough to fully describe our Lord.
