A walk with God – Day 3

Not For Sale

Across from the patch of nettles is the first house of the Glen ,  there used to be a lovely and friendly old couple living there. Sadly the man passed away and his wife has now moved away leaving the house empty. It has not been empty that long and you wouldnt know if it wasnt for the slightly long grass, the peeling paint work or the ‘For Sale’ sign at the front.

The famous hym ‘Come thou fount of every blessing‘ words Christs work of redemption like this :
” He, to rescue me from danger,Interposed His precious blood.”

If we are saved ,then the by the blood of Jesus we have also been bought back by God, when we sinned we sold ourselves over to sin , we freely gave our souls over to new occupants.  And it was a heavy price to buy us back again – our God , the bright morning star, the king of creation had to step down into our dark little world and endured abuse, pain, mockery and death by our hands.
That is the price that our Saviour was willing to pay to buy us back for himself.

But like we said yesterday this week We will be looking more at our daily Christian walk , even though God has bought us over , we still tend to let our sins back into the front door of our soul.

And as is often the case , if we open the door to these sins they will return over and over again. The devil will not make us sin but he will  make sinning appear to the be best and the easiest option open to us.

When as Christians we start to let sin enter our lives , it may not always be obvious that we are doing so, just like the house out my road  maybe there is only a bit of paint peeling , or some overgrown grass.
Maybe we havent been bothered to read our Bible , maybe we think we can ‘just leave it another day’ before we decide to pray again , and before we know it  our once close and fresh relationship is now looking dilapidated, the paint is peeling and we feel trapped in a place that we no longer feel we own.

We let in the sin , we cause the distance between us and God – but only our Father God can look on us, his bought children with all our sin ,all our problems, all our wanderings and still see the beautiful and loved child that he has saved, as Isaiah wrote   :
““Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. – Isaiah 1:18
We will always sin , but the blood of our Lord covers all our sins.

You might be feeling far from God just now, you may have let too many sins in through the door – but remember even though the paint is scratched, the grass grown long and there may be mold on the walls.
You have been bought by God, he will not give you up or give you over, you are in his arms – he will never resell you , you are his. Your sign will never again read  ‘for sale’ it will forever say ‘bought’

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”- 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
